Clinical Dental Assistant

Program Description

The clinical dental assistant program is designed to prepare students for entry-level chairside duties. In addition to chairside duties, students will become proficient in other clinical duties such as taking appropriate dental radiographs, mixing and preparing materials for dental impressions, sterilizing instruments, disinfecting treatment rooms, and more. 

Upon successful completion of the clinical dental assistant program, students will receive a certificate of completion from the school. Students will then be eligible to sit for the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam administered through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) to obtain their certification as Dental Radiation Technologist in Maryland.

Enrollment Requirements

1. Proof of a state or federal issued photo ID
2. SS card
3. Evidence of Hepatitis B Vaccination, positive blood titers or signed waiver/declination form. 
4. Proof a high school diploma, GED or a college diploma. In lieu of a diploma, the student can submit a copy of their transcript. The graduation date must be on the transcript.

Evening Clinical Dental Assistant Training Schedule

• Class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm-10 pm
• Please note: This is a fast-paced program. Students are required to spend about 8 hours of additional time outside of class completing and submitting online assignments each week. Please consider this when registering for the dental assistant program.

Weekend Clinical Dental Assistant Training Schedule

• Class meets Saturday and Sunday from 9 am-2 pm
• Please note: This is a fast-paced program. Students are required to spend about 8 hours of additional time outside of class completing and submitting online assignments each week. Please consider this when registering for the dental assistant program.
